英語:Newspaper Lesson

概要: Learn intermediate to advanced English using a newspaper!
受講条件: - intermediate to advanced English level (can read short news articles)
- note-taking material of choice
詳細: In this course, you will:

- be given 2 newspaper articles to read, based on preferred topic/s
- learn unknown vocabulary found in the articles
- summarize the articles within a time limit
- get feedback on the summary and additional words and expressions you could use
- expand on the articles through discussions
- get one newspaper article to summarize and prepare to discuss as a homework

The material to be used is Japan Times Alpha, which has different English levels to cater to the student's ability.

The goal of the lessons is to improve fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, endurance, and communication strategy.

英語:EIKEN Speaking Practice

概要: EIKEN Speaking Practice and Feedback
受講条件: - have basic English knowledge
- can construct basic sentences
詳細: In this course, we will practice the Speaking Test of the EIKEN, from levels 5 to 1.

Using a timer, we will go over the reading passage (materials provided or depends on student's request) and the interview questions, with feedback afterwards. Depending on the pace, we can do 1 to 2 sets of practice.

For EIKEN 3 and above, we could also do a writing practice using topics often used in the tests (materials provided or again, depends on student's request). We can use the entire lesson hour for either or both the speaking and writing practices.
